        Tadoba National Park, also known as the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, is situated in Chandrapur District, Maharashtra State, India. It includes Tadoba National Park and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary. Tadoba is the oldest National Park of Maharashtra. It derives its name from "Taru" the local deity, while the Andhari river that meanders through the forest gives the sanctuary its name. Tadoba National Park is like Heaven for Wild life enthusiasts which attracts tourist towards it. Tadoba is also known as the 'Jewel of Vidarbha'.The area around Tadoba was once highly populated by the Gond tribes. It is a compact National Park of about 120 sq.km. perched at an altitude of 200m and is placed 100 km south of Nagpur and 45 km north of the district headquarter and industrial town of Chandrapur. The Tadoba National Park is 623 sq.km. in area,consisting of two forest rectangles of the Tadoba and Andhari Range. Major part of this forest is thrived in hilly area; it covers the Chimur Hills, and Andhari sanctuary covers Moharali & Kolsa ranges, so many hillocks, terrains provide shelter to wild animals, since it is considered that this park has a great accessibility & sighting of many wild beasts, wild-lovers from many parts of the country & world arrives here. Tadoba is also one of the India's 28 Project Tiger Reserve. The main attraction of the Tadoba National Park is its jungle safari trips. 6-seater, 4-wheel drive, open top Gypsy vehicles with trained local guides are available to take visitors around the park to see wildlife.

        Tadoba National Park,has around 50 tigers along with some rare Indian wildlife such as,Tiger,Leopards, Sloth Bears, Gaur, Wild Dogs, Hyenas, Civet and Jungle cats, and many species of Indian deer like Sambar, Cheetal, Nilgai, the fleet footed chousingha, the shy Sloth Bear,and Barking Deer. Tadoba also has a lake which sustains the Marsh Crocodile, which were once common all over Maharashtra. It is the main attractions of the park,which is the natural habitat of many water birds and prime drinking water source of wild animals because it remains full with the water even in extreme summers. The mesmerizing trails of Tadoba could be a treasured experience of a lifetime.

       An endowment of nature, generous form of natural beauty and a royal den of Bengal Tiger, one fascinating fact about this place is that people can roam here throughout the year, thus they can be witness to spot the tiger and other opulence wild species along with the beautiful dense forest which is a mesmerize combination of bamboo, Palash (Butea monosperma), Teak, Mahua Madhuca (Crepe myrtle), Haldu, Salai, Bija, Ain, Arjun, Behada, Bhera, Bor, Bel, Chichwa, Dhawada, Kusum, Mowai, Phetra, Rohan, Semal, Shisham, Sisoo, Shivan, Surya, Sirus, Tendu, and many more trees species, Grass patches specially in summer, provide a breathtaking experience to all those wild lovers, who ever wish to see tiger in such dry & long grass stretches.

        The Tadoba lake is situated more or less in the middle of the Park. Due to Tadoba lake,many birds are attracted towards this,giving us an opportunity to watch the magnificent species of birds. There are more than 200 species of birds. Few of the birds which are most commonly seen are Oriental honey & white eyed Buzzard,Indian Pitta,Paradise Flycatcher,Oriental Honey & White-eyed Buzzard, Indian Pitta, Paradise Flycatcher, Indian Roller, Orange-headed Ground Thrush, Common Hawk Cuckoo, Changeable Hawk eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Savana Nightjar, Painted Sandgrouse, Black-hooded Oriole, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Yellow-footed Green Pigeon, Monarch Flycatcher, racket-tailed and White-bellied Drongo, Large Cuckooshrike, Oriental White eye, grey Hornbill, Grey Jungle-fowl, Golden Oriole, Large green barbet.

Tadoba National Park Timing and Entry Fees

Timing : Tadoba Tiger Reserve is open from 5-30 am to 10-30 am and 2-45 pm to 6 pm throughout the year, but remains closed on Tuesdays.   

Entry Fees: Adult Rs.10/, Child Rs. 5/, Car / Jeep 20/- Rs. per day / per vehicle, Heavy vehicle Rs.50/- per day / per vehicle, Still Camera 2/- Rs. per day, Two & Three Wheelers are not permitted in the park.
